(not yet titled) by Ara Peterson
Ara Peterson is an american artist based in providence rhode island. while peterson studied film and
animation, the majority of her work is 3-dimensional and static. however she brings her experience
with movement and time-based mediums to her art in other ways, making static pieces appear to move.
Optical illusions and repetition play key roles in transforming paintings and sculptures into more
dynamic pieces. her recent work uses pieces of laser cut wood assembled together in series. Each piece
of wood in these pieces is changed slightly in form or position, allowing the pieces to morph as the
move from end to end.

Electronic Candle
Aram Bartholl has used a combination of resistance wire, copper wire, switch, and 12V power transformer to light a candle.
A resistance wire, similar to one in a classic light bulb, is wound into a spiral and slipped over the wick of the candle. Both ends are soldered to copper wire which leads down to the switch which is fixed by a cable tie to the candle. The switch controls a 12 V power transformer. The resistance wire glows up very briefly before the heat breaks the metal. The candle is lit.

FLABOGAST
Immer schön Fotos machen. Mal was anderes.
Mal schauen.

Pictoplasma Exhibition
The Pictopia exhibition playfully explores the phenomenon of contemporary character design and art. Graphic designers, artists, animators, media and 3D designers work with a shared set of signs, opening up new contexts and correlations. The exhibition examines the contemporary vague of reduced figuration as a strategy for producing a vitalism outside established narratives. These so-called characters are reduced to the anthropomorphic function of eye contact which seems to look out from flat pictorial space at the viewer.
Including original artwork by: Aaron Stewart, AJ Fosik, Akinori Oishi, Ben Frost, Borris Hoppek , Daniel & Geo Fuchs, Doma Collective, Doudouboy, Dylan Martorell, Edwina Ashton, Faiyaz Jafri, Fons Schiedon, Friends With You, Gary Baseman, Golan Levin, Hideaki Kawashima, Ian Stevenson, James Marshall, Jeremy Dower, Juan Pablo Cambariere, Mark Ryden, Motomichi Nakamura, Nagi Noda, Olaf Breuning, Rinzen, Sam Gibbons, Shoboshobo, Tim Biskup, Waynehorse

"Surface Refinement", installation, 2009
The installation "Surface Refinement" by visomat inc., Telematique and Errorsmith can be seen as an architectural study: modular, geometric Styrofoam elements arranged to create large-scale, adaptive spatial structures. Developed further as "Surface Refinement" it involves media in a way that is aiming at an interaction between a geometric body, light and sound. At CTM, "Surface Refinement" elegantly transforms the existing architecture where it covers parts of the main hall's walls and ceiling. Video projectors are used to animate the structure by precisely tracing individual elements with light. It describes a path towards form and delivers a massive, sensual re-definition of space. Styrofoam is an industrial material; a completely synthetic product. It stands for functionality, simplicity and minimalism, exactly the qualities that the installation references in contemporary architecture and interior design.
